Scientific Illustration: Nudibranch

The purpose of my project is to visualize and inform about nudibranchs through scientific illustrations in the form of a book-pitch. The pitch is intended as a follow-up to the Welcome to the Museum series and is aimed at those who wish to dive deeply into a specific area of the animal kingdom. The illustrations will be presented in the tradition of vintage educational wall charts, similar to those found in the Welcome to the Museum books. Before I began illustrating, it was important for me to consider how different nudibranchs would work together visually. During this process, I gained clarity on the positioning, angles, and colors of each nudibranch. Since they will be displayed together on a single spread, it was crucial that they harmonize with one another. I am mindful of highlighting the colors and details that make nudibranchs unique. Known for its vivid colors, I chose to work with a high level of color saturation. A key focus has been achieving realism in the illustrations, with intricate details that become visible when observing the individual nudibranch closely.
